We're Back for Another Great Year 2012 - 2013

Our first day back to school was outstanding!  Turner Middle School is already off to a great start.

Turner Middle School is quickly staking its claim as “The Best Middle School in Georgia!” We had a phenomenal school year last year, and we are looking forward to providing our students, parents and community with an even greater experience during the 2012 – 2013 school year. Turner Middle School surpassed its goals in student achievement on the CRCT, posting amazing gains across the board. Our school is a very diverse school, providing our students and staff the opportunity to become responsible, productive citizens in a truly global learning environment. Students and staff demonstrate respect towards each other as we continually challenge each other to excel to our highest potential.

If you have not visited Turner Middle School lately, then you have not witnessed our excellence first-hand. In addition to our outstanding student achievement gains, Turner Middle School produced IB students, chess tournament champions, a highly accomplished band program, another championship soccer team, top SAT/ACT performers, Camp Coca-Cola awardees, foreign language competition awardees, and we are the only middle school dual language program in Georgia, just to name a few accomplishments. We invite our stakeholders to visit Turner Middle School throughout the school year and to become a part of our growing school pride and excellence.

Turner Middle School has a rich history in the Douglas County School System. Many of our employees in Douglas County Schools, their families and a large percentage of Douglas County residents, have attended Turner or have other formal ties to Turner Middle School. Because of this rich tradition, many people are invested in our growing successes. One of our primary goals is to become more involved with our stakeholders and our business community.

Perhaps the most immediate and exciting aspect of the new school year is the completion of the renovation of TMS. Our building has undergone a renovation project inside and out, to the tune of approximately $7.5 million, thanks to the recent continuation of the penny tax passed by Douglas County voters towards the improvement of education. We look forward to another great year at Turner Middle School! Please listen for and witness our greatness first-hand.
