In April of 1978, I joined the United States Air Force. From 1978 - 1986 I was an Avionics Instrument Systems Technician on the A10-A Thunderbolt II aircraft. I worked both in the shop where instruments and related computers are bench-checked for irregularities as well as on the flight line where I removed and replaced the components for in-shop repair.

In 1989, I became a certified scuba instructor and spent several years training people to dive.

I also became a Rural Letter Carrier in 1989 and worked for the United Staes Postal Service for 13 years.

When my son entered 5th grade, I became involved with his class and decided to utilize my teaching degree. After three years of teaching all subjects in 5th grade, I realized my passion was math. I returned to school and completed my Master's Degree. It turned out to be perfect timing - TMS was hiring and I was able to finish 2010 as a long-term substitute. Since then, I have taught 7th and 8th grade math and this will be my third year teaching STEM as a connections class. I am very excited to start a new school year!
