Subjects Taught
Reading - 7th Grade

I am a proud graduate of Georgia State University--twice!  I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in pre-education in 2009.  That summer, I was accepted into Georgia State's esteemed TEEMS Program for Middle Childhood Education.  My student teaching experiences were completed at Burnett Elementary and Turner Middle School.  I completed the program in 2012, receiving a Master of Arts for Teachers in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in language arts and social studies. I am currently certified to teach middle grades language arts (4-8), middle grades social studies (4-8), and middle grades reading (4-8).

My very first teaching experiences were on the carport of my childhood home playing "school" with my sister and our friends.  Immediately after receiving my bachelors degree in 2009, I began substitute teaching in Douglas County.  Over the course of four years, I subbed at least once in every grade level and nearly every subject area in kindergarten through eighth grade.  I have also long-term subbed in math connections (6-8th grades), P.E. (6-8th grades), language arts (6-7th grades), and social studies (7th grade).  During the 2012-13 school year, I was a tutor for the FLP program here at Turner, including the two-week summer math institute in June 2013.

I was honored with the opportunity to officially begin my teaching career at Turner Middle School during the 2013-14 school year in 6th grade language arts and reading, joining the ranks of some of the most dedicated and esteemed teachers in the State of Georgia.

The 2016-17 school year marks my 4th year teaching, and my 3rd year in 7th grade reading!

I was born and raised in Cobb County, splitting my high school experience between Osborne High School, and then graduating from McEachern High School in 1999.  I was fifteen years old when I started my very first job at McDonald's in Powder Springs where I met Chris Kidd one fine afternoon in the fall of 1996.  We married in 2001 and have two wonderful sons who love football almost as much as we do.  In January 2004, we moved to Douglasville, and have lived there ever since.

My hobbies include cross stitching, scrapbooking, genealogy, gardening, and cooking.  I love love LOVE football!  My favorite teams are the Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia State Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons.  I am also a proud band parent, with one son in 6th grade here at TMS, and my oldest son (three-time Douglas County Honor Band participant!) as part of the Hiram High School Band of Gold!
