21st CCLC After School Program

The 21st CCLC program is designed to provide students with hands-on activities aligned with the Georgia Milestones. The program provides students with opportunities to engage in activities such as: tutoring in the 4 core content areas, which are ELA/reading, mathematics, science, and social studies; homework assistance; project based learning in science; as well as, enrichment projects that include archery, food and nutrition, fashion designing, arts and craft, various forms of dance - jazz, step, contemporary, and hip hop. Other activities include character education and drug prevention. All educational experiences provided through the 21st CCLC program are specifically tailored to instill in the students a lifelong love of learning. Students are also afforded an opportunity to participate in transition activities, which enable them to transition seamlessly from the elementary to the middle school level.

The goals with the 21st CCLC are as follows:

  • Increase achievement in all academic areas
  • Demonstrate enhanced reading ability and motivation
  • Homework completion
  • Increase students' self-esteem and confidence
  • Decrease grade retention
  • Decrease disciplinary issues
  • Increase family involvement
  • Increase community engagement
  • Utilize scientifically based best practices with teachers and students
